What I Wish You Knew About Being A Single Pastor
pastor. writer. podcaster.
ALICIA MCCLINTIC
HELLO
Let me introduce myself:
First, you should know I love coffee and tacos, and that I read and think and write and preach.
But really, before all those things, I’m a Christ-follower, a daughter, a sister, a friend.
I serve as the lead pastor of Selah Church of the Nazarene in Selah, Washington and co-host the weekly podcast for A Plain Account, an online Wesleyan Lectionary commentary. I'm a recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest, formerly a life-long Californian-- from my sweet hometown in Pismo Beach on the Central Coast, to San Diego where I attended Point Loma Nazarene University (BA Literature & Spanish 2011), and finally to the Bay Area where I settled after graduate school (San Jose State University, MA English & Comparative Literature 2014; and Fuller Theological Seminary, MA Theology & Culture 2019).
These days, I spend my free time hunting for the best breakfast burrito & cappuccino in my new city, keeping tabs on my favorite California sports teams, buying way too many books, and never writing quite as many words-per-day as I would like (alas).
I consider it a great honor and joy to spend time with communities sharing some thoughts about God and life. I would love to speak at your church, retreat, camp, living room, podcast, or wherever else your community gathers, so please contact me if you're interested in scheduling a speaking engagement.
I’m so glad you’ve come by my home on the web. I hope we’ll be friends.

OTHER PROJECTS
some other things i'm working on:
A PLAIN ACCOUNT
A Wesleyan lectionary commentary resourcing preachers
A Plain Account is a free Wesleyan Lectionary Commentary drawn from the texts prescribed by the Revised Common Lectionary and from essays submitted by pastors, teachers, professors, and scholars from multiple traditions who all trace their roots to John Wesley. Alicia & Megan cohost a regular podcast with A Plain Account-- That'll Preach! We hope you'll tune in for regular conversations about scripture, prayer, and embodied spiritual practices.
THE POSSIBILITY PROJECT
An intentional Christian community in the California Bay Area
This is a two year discipleship and leadership development program designed for Christians who desire to live and work in the Bay Area. Possibility People are continually answering the questions: What is God calling you to do? And how can you be faithful? We live together, eat together, study together, sing and pray together... We're basically an urban monastery.
SAVING ACTS
An emerging media-missions ministry
Saving Acts connects ministry partners and creative storytellers to the grand narrative of God’s work in the world. We partner with ministries witnessing God’s saving acts and we empower creative storytellers to share what they witness. This year we have been to Sierra Leone documenting WASH programs, Costa Rica visiting a seminary, Sri Lanka partnering with The Justice Movement, and Ecuador collaborating with church planters.
PREACHER CHICKS
An ecumenical group supporting women’s voices in theology
Preacher Chicks is an incubator for women of color seeking to cultivate their God given gifts of preaching, speaking, and teaching in ministry. We are women in a variety of ministry contexts – pastors, speakers, and leaders with over 100 years of combined ministry experience. We would love to serve you by providing training and mentoring to hone your craft and nurture your gifts within a supportive cohort.
