Looking for a great book to read this winter season? Are you shopping for holiday gifts for readers in your life?

Here’s a guide to some great books for a variety of wintry moods and readerly tastes, carefully curated from my personal favorites. I’ve read all of these (except one very long book), and I wouldn’t recommend them otherwise– but please remember that not every book is for every reader, and not every reader is sensitive to the same things, so it’s always wise to do some homework to check out content warnings for yourself (I use the site StoryGraph to see what other readers might have flagged as “triggers”).
